Supporting Independence Through Work-Based Learning and Training
Marimor Industries, Inc. offers a wide range of programs, services, and opportunities designed to help individuals build independence, gain meaningful employment, and participate fully in their communities. These “stepping stones” provide the support and training needed to reach the highest level of personal success possible.
Building Skills Through Work-Based Activities
When you participate in our Vocational Services program, you’ll have the opportunity to strengthen your job skills through hands-on, work-based experiences and real production contracts.
In-house production opportunities often pay at a piece rate and may include:
- Light assembly
- Quality sorting and inspection
- Packaging
- Clerical and collating tasks
Marimor Industries also provides confidential document destruction services and partners with local businesses to offer enclave or on-site work crew opportunities.
Individuals involved in these programs earn an hourly wage of no less than minimum wage.
The “Stepping Stone” Approach
Our Stepping Stone Vocational Training model, introduced in 2016 after Marimor became a fully independent private provider, is designed to help individuals develop key job skills and meet employment standards.
The ultimate goal is to support each person’s transition from facility-based services to community employment.
Step 3:
Training, developing, and understanding work skills — including workplace rules, responsibilities, soft skills, and participation in piece-rated opportunities.
Step 2:
Increasing piece-rated and in-house hourly jobs to build stamina, problem-solving, and a variety of essential skills.
Step 1:
Moving to enclave sites and hourly-rated work in community settings.
Through this process, once an individual successfully completes Step 1, they may be referred to Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) and Marimor Industries Employment Services to begin individualized job development and placement.
